Marcel Kloosterman

Partner

Marcel supports startups and scale-ups in building toward successful exits to blue-chip strategic acquirers or established private equity firms. He brings decades of experience in founding and financing innovative Health or Life science related startups, followed by efficiently guiding them through the scale-up period across multiple stages of development.

His perspective is shaped by a long career at DSM, now dsm-firmenich, where he held a range of roles within the Life Sciences segment. These included positions at both business unit and corporate level, spanning corporate governance, new business development, and global corporate venture capital.

In his private life, Marcel is passionate about skiing, climbing, and mountaineering, and enjoys exciting environments under sometimes challenging conditions that reward insight-based detailed preparation to the benefit of all. His broader interests include vintage wines, classic motorcycles, and architecture, pursuits he has followed with the same curiosity and commitment over time, restoring his first motorcycle at 12, acquiring finest Burgundy wines at cost price at 16, and later designing and building his own home.

This combination of personal skills, operational exposure and investment experience allows Marcel to act as a seasoned sparring partner to founders and supervisory boards, particularly in navigating strategic positioning, sustainable growth, and realizing rewarding exits with impact.

Marcel holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Leiden University.
